FAQ

Questions, answered.

What is Lanea di Biella?

Lanea di Biella is a 160-tailor made-to-measure atelier and private-label manufacturer. We produce hand-cut suiting in Biella wool under our partners’ own labels — for boutiques, independent tailors and emerging menswear brands worldwide. We are a business-to-business workshop, not a consumer retailer.

Does Lanea di Biella manufacture suits for other brands?

Yes. Private-label and white-label production is our core business. Your name goes on the label and hangtag; our 160 tailors do the cutting and finishing behind the scenes.

What is the minimum order?

One garment. Because every suit is made to measure, partners order a single piece per client rather than committing to factory minimums. You sell first, we cut second.

How long does production take?

Standard made-to-measure production is 21 days from approved measurements, shipped worldwide.

What fabrics do you use?

Cloth woven in Biella, Italy, sourced from 33 certified Italian mills including Vitale Barberis Canonico, Ermenegildo Zegna, Loro Piana and Reda — wool flannel, fresco high-twist, worsteds and linen.

Can a boutique offer made-to-measure without a workshop?

Yes. Through our Boutique & Stockist Program, your shop measures and styles the client with a swatch book and our measurement protocol, while we handle all production. No tailors, no cloth inventory required.

How do I start my own tailoring business with you?

The Traveling Tailor Program lets you start a made-to-measure practice with only a swatch book. You measure clients anywhere; our atelier cuts, finishes and ships. You set your own prices above our atelier rate.

Where are you based?

Lanea di Biella operates two production ateliers and works with 33 certified mills in Biella, the wool capital of the Italian Alps. We ship worldwide.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes. We ship finished garments to partners in Europe, North America, the Middle East, Asia and Oceania.

What does it cost to become a partner?

There is no large upfront cost. Partners begin with a swatch set and our measurement protocol, then order garments one at a time. Message us for an indicative price grid for your market.

Can I put my own brand label inside the garment?

Yes. White-labelling is standard: your woven label, your hangtag, your packaging. Nothing points back to us unless you choose co-branding.

What is the difference between made-to-measure and bespoke?

Made-to-measure adjusts an existing base pattern to a client’s measurements and choices — efficient, repeatable, around 21 days. Bespoke drafts a pattern from scratch with multiple fittings — slower and more costly. We specialise in made-to-measure, the model best suited to a scalable tailoring business.
